Founded in 1914, TATUA is the oldest dairy company in New Zealand. Each year, approximately 94% TATUA products export to over 60 countries worldwide.

The name Tatua has great meaning for the company. A TATUA is a belt woven from New Zealand native harakeke (flax). It is worn by a Māori (*) chief or warrior to carry their most prized and special tools. It sits across the abdomen, symbolizing the protection and enrichment of future generations. The Tatua is woven, strong and durable, and can be passed from generation to generation.

At Tatua, there are 10,000 hectares of New Zealand grass-based pasture, 37,000 metric tonnes of specialized dairy ingredients and dairy foods, 37,000 dairy cows, 114 shareholder farms and 200+ million litres of fresh milk processed.

Committed to quality and food safety, TATUA has developed leading edge quality management systems to ensure producing high quality and safe products. Their farmers are expected to treat their animals with respect and ensure they are happy, healthy and well fed.

The TATUA products are specialized dairy ingredients and dairy foods, including dairy flavour ingredients, specialty nutritional ingredients, consumer and foodservice dairy products. Some highlight TATUA products such as whipping cream, sour cream are imported & distributed by New Viet Dairy.

(*)The Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. Māori originated with settlers from eastern Polynesia, who arrived in New Zealand in several waves of canoe voyages sometime between 1250 and 1300.
